Career

Starting from clients' challenges, you will bring solutions to life using technical skill and creativity. Through client projects and in-house R&D, you can build deep expertise by moving back and forth between implementation and exploration. You can also help bridge the technology you develop into products, delivering it to a much broader range of clients. Working at the heart of one of the company's core offerings, you can gain experience that goes beyond technology to help drive the business itself.

Our roles

  • Data Scientist

This role engages with clients' development challenges in fine detail, using data and models to produce outputs that inform decision-making. We reflect domain knowledge gained from dialogue with clients and from the literature in our analytical design, taking sole responsibility from understanding the background through to implementation and interpretation. We fuse technology with insight in pursuit of genuine value creation.

  • Research Data Scientist

This role explores and develops new informatics technologies that advance materials development and process development. Building hypotheses on the basis of knowledge from inside and outside the company, we repeat cycles of verification and refinement to elevate them into technology that can be applied to clients' challenges. We digest prior research and practical know-how to build the technical foundations and applications that lead to solutions.

  • Lab Automation Engineer

This role digitally controls experimental processes and analytical measurement environments, turning physical events into data, and explores new forms of data-driven research and development. In addition to equipment control and workflow design, it involves creatively verifying and building mechanisms that connect data acquisition, analysis and experimental design into a single, seamless flow.

Meet the team

  • Chen Jiaxiu

    Lead Data Scientist

As a data scientist, what I find rewarding is pioneering new territory. AI applications are advancing by the day, yet there are still few in the chemistry and materials fields, and I see great potential here. I want to bring a fresh perspective to chemistry and materials science through the expertise of a data scientist, and explore the possibilities AI offers together with more chemists and materials researchers.

  • Seiji Sasaoka

    Lead Data Scientist

MI-6's data scientists are expected to have not only so-called soft skills such as logical thinking and communication, but also hard skills such as materials engineering and information science — in other words, this is an environment where you can keep learning that kind of 'science' on an ongoing basis. There is no greater joy than mobilising all the knowledge gained in this way to solve the problems our clients face, and seeing their delight as a result.

  • Mendoza Zamarripa Elisa Margarita

    Data Scientist

As an R&D data scientist, I find it rewarding to explore new ideas starting from data and to generate approaches that lead to solving challenges. Working through trial and error together with colleagues who share the same aspirations, and being able to contribute to innovative development, is a daily source of encouragement for me.
